Extended Biography

This past year, he was editing season three for The Equalizer starring Queen Latifah and season one of The Irrational starring Jesse L. Martin, both for CBS. James also worked on One of Us is Lying on season two for Peacock and was credited as an Associate Producer.

Before that James edited The Gifted for Fox, Genius for NatGeo and cut the CBS pilot, Salvation for director Juan Carlos Fresnadillo. During his career, he was the pilot editor for both Eyewitness (directed by Catherine Hardwicke) on the USA Network and Notorious (directed by Michael Engler) on ABC. He went on to be the supervising editor for both series.

Twelve years ago, James was fortunate enough to be selected as the 2007 Editing Intern for the Academy of Television and Sciences Foundation. He was placed on Burn Notice, Season 1 (USA) and The Shield, Season 7 (FX). It was on Burn Notice that he met Steven Lang, A.C.E. who became his mentor and friend.

In his early career, James founded a visual effects company that handled work for both cable and network television shows. In the years to follow, his love for story and creative collaboration as an editor became more appealing than visual effects work. However, his skills in visual effects have translated into what he terms as "performance enhancing effects" that allow for more advanced manipulation of the story.

After twelve years as a member of the Motion Picture Editor's Guild and the Academy, he has developed a deep love of story, visual effects, and the craft of editing.
