Extended Biography

James recently cut the CBS pilot, Salvation for director Juan Carlos Fresnadilla. Before that he was the pilot editor for both Eyewitness (directed by Catherine Hardwicke) on the USA Network and Notorious (directed by Michael Engler) on ABC. He went on to be the supervising editor for both series.

Ten years ago, James was fortunate enough to be selected as the 2007 Editing Intern for the Academy of Television and Sciences Foundation. He was placed on Burn Notice, Season 1 (USA) and The Shield, Season 7 (FX). It was on Burn Notice that he met Steven Lang who became his mentor and friend. After assisting for him for two years on pilots and shows including The Good Guys (FOX), and The Firm (NBC) and Rectify (SUNDANCETV), James started cutting for shows on the USA Network including Burn NoticeNecessary RoughnessComplications and Eyewitness. He was also an editor on Legends for TNT.

On the network side, James co-edited the Rush Hour pilot for CBS and was the supervising editor for both Of Kings and Prophets and Notorious on ABC. He is currently editing on the first season of Salvation for CBS.

In his early career, James founded a visual effects company that handled work for both cable and network television shows. In the years to follow, his love for story and creative collaboration as an editor became more appealing than visual effects work. However, his skills in visual effects have translated into what he terms as "performance enhancing effects" that allow for more advanced manipulation of the story.

James' life long dream has been to cut big budget feature films from home in his underwear. After ten years as a member of the Motion Picture Editor's Guild, he has developed a deep love of story, visual effects, and the craft of editing.
